31~—-1 THE SPEECHES OF MOSES. §2r¤r¤ii¤¤ in ibn Qhrliamzni nf 31 israel. (Then Moses proceeded to conclude his

speeches to all Israel, and said to them:) ‘ I am the son of a. hundred and

twenty years t0·day! I am no longer able to go out far, or to come back; and the EvER—L1v1NG has said to me, ‘You shall not pass over this ]¤rdan.’ The Even-Lxvme, your GOD, Himself will pass over before you I HE will destroy those heathens from before you, and drive them out ! The Saviour Himself will pass over before you, as the EvER—L1v1NG has said, and the EVER-Lrvmc will do to them as He did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and to their country which you destroyed. The Ev1~:R—L1v1No will thus deliver them to your face, and you shall do to them, exactly as you were com- manded. Take courage! Be strong! Fear not! (Moses then called to joshue and mid to him in the sight of all Israel :) Be strong and bold ! for you shall

bring thi—s People to the land which the EvBR—L1vlNG promised to Abra- ham, to give to them, and you must divide it amongst them, and the Evan-Livxue Hmlsenr will march before you,~—·HE will be with you. HE will not forsake, or abandon you! Fear not! Shrink not! (Moses afterwards engraved this law,

and gave it tothe Priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the Ark of the Covenant ofthe EvER·1.1v1NG, and to all the judges of Israel ; Moses also ordered them saying:) ‘ At the end of every seven years,

at the year of release, and at the Feast of Tabernacles. when all Israel goes to see the Presence of your EVER-L1v1N<; Gon, in the place which He chooses, you shall read this Law to all Israel, in their hearing, at a Public Meeting of the People, of the men, the women, the children, and the foreigners who are in your villages, so that they may hear, and learn, and fear the EvER—L1VlNG, your GOD, and take care to practise all the commands of this law, and that their children, who know it not, may hear and learn to fear the EVER- L1v1NG, your Gon, all the time of their life upon the land that you are crossing the jordan to possess.
