The Books of the Prophets

ISAIAH. _ CH. 38 O1>s 58, 59, Bocx I. 16 18 What say and relate of my case? That it made me Ago sadly along, In the grief of my soul all my years, Till the Almighty raised me to life! New my spirit will live through them all, For You have revived me to strength, My suffering You turned into ease, When oblivion You turned back to life, When You threw to my back all my sin. For the grave cannot praise or death give to You thanks, Nor the wrecked in the Pit know Your truth. Life, life, it will thank You like I do to—dayl Your truth to his children the father will tell. The LGRD saved me, and so let us sing to the lute All the days of our life, in the House of the LORD. ODE 59. @ alahmfn ®x¤lm¤¤g. 39 . At that period Merodach Baladan- ben·Baledon, the King of Babel, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been ill and was recovered. Hezekiah was pleased with them,

and showed them his stores of spices, silver, and gold, and perfumes, and essences, and all his arsenal of weapons, and what he had collected in his treasuries ; there was nothing which Hezekiah did not show them in his Palace, orin all his Dominions. Then Isaiah the Preacher went to King Hezekiah and asked him: ‘What did those men say to you? And from whence did they come ? ’ 1 Nora.--Ch. 38. The verses 21 and 22 are

clearly an old Hebrew editor’s note. Ithere- fore put them at the page foot. 21 Under the direction of Isaiah they had 22 taken a cake of figs and pressed it upon the ulcer, and he had revived. Then What a wonder that I can go up to the House of the Evan- They came to me from a distant country, from Babel. What have they seen in your Palace ?’ They have seen all that is in my Palace; there is not anything in my treasuries which I have not shown them. Isaiah then said to Hezekiah,

‘ Hear a message from the LGRD 0F Hosrs !-——Look I The times will come, when all that is in your Palace or which your forefathers stored up to this day, will be taken and carried to Babel ; nothing will be left, says the LORD; and some of your descen- dants, who will spring from you, whom you will produce, they will seize and make them eunuchs in the king of Babel’s palace! When Hezekiah replied to Isaiah

The message of the LORD which you have delivered is right : He grants peace and safety inmy days!
